Leather items are an all-time favorite among the people. Hence, there is no exception in the case of leather wallets. A leather wallet is simply a kind of wallet made using the tanned animal hide. A spectrum of leather wallets are now available to choose from such as simple bifold or trifold leather wallets, flaps antique wallet, Italian leather wallets, and designer leather wallets. If you are looking for something different or high-end option, go for wallets made from a combination of premium quality leather and suede. There are also leather wallets that are exclusively designed to work as credit card holders or check book holders. Some leather wallets even come with a number of attractive compartments that help you to carry your personal documents such as credit card, cash, driver’s license, and social security numbers in a compact way. In short, options are endless for those looking to shop a leather wallet.

In spite of the fact that a leather wallet is a unique, sophisticated choice to carry your personal as well as valuable information and cash, there is nothing special in a leather wallet when it comes to its safety features. According to the latest research by the credit card companies, 43% of the total identity theft occurring in the US is obtained through stolen wallets. In other words, these leather wallets do not offer you any safety feature and perhaps the only option open to you is to be very careful and conscious about your wallet containing valuable information plus hard-earned money all times, no matter you are in a busy airport, noisy restaurant, attending friends’ or relatives’ special functions, or while holidaying. However, it is impossible each and every time to take care your wallet and there may be some instances when you may become careless.

Here comes the importance of iWallet – the first of its kind in the world that is credited with the only high tech wallet developed by engineers that work in projects with NASA. A feature that is unique to this tamper resistant, hard case wallet is its incorporated biometric reader due to which it can be unlocked or accessed only if it recognizes your fingerprint. In fact, this portable safe high end option serves as an excellent alternative over pick pocketing of wallets, which may sometimes result in identity theft and due to which you have to pay huge amount of money out of your pocket. iWallet can also help you to overcome situations like your children or someone in your home stealing money from your pocket while it is unattended.

Another remarkable feature of this device is that it can be easily paired with selected cellular phones via Bluetooth, which alerts you by producing a long alarm if your mobile phone is more than 15-30 ft away from your iWallet. This in turn is beneficial in case you forget your mobile at your office or restaurant or any one pick pocket your mobile or wallet.

iWallet comes with three different models such as SC-5144, LC-5346, and LC-5245, of which one is made from 100% Carbon Fiber and the other two from Carbon Fiber and Kevlar. When comes to its price, iWallet’s price is exceptionally low and you can own it for just US$ 599.95!

iwallet – The new technology men’s wallet is designed by http://www.iwalletusa.com
This Hi-Tech card wallet using single finger print to open. This wallet prevents identity theft. Also this credit card wallet uses Bluetooth Technology pairing with cellular phones thats acts as a theft deterrent.

Iwallet is your perfect source to conceal your personal information and hard cash in your wallet where only you have access to.

By: Uchenna Ani-Okoye
Most people advocate the case of credit cards, quoting the benefits and convenience that arises from them. However, there is another group/line-of-thought that strongly opposes credit cards. The reason being ‘Excessive Credit Card Debt’, which is one of the most serious problems faced by the credit card holders and credit card industry. However, you can’t pull the shutters on the credit card industry just because of a few irresponsible people (or even if it’s more than few). That is not a solution for beating excessive credit card debt. Moreover, you can’t overlook the benefits associated with the credit cards.

The issue of excessive credit card debt can be looked at from 2 angles. First is addressing of the excessive credit card debt problem at the industry level and second is the addressing of the excessive credit card debt problem at the individual’s level i.e. at the credit card holder level. The first method involves increasing awareness of the excessive credit card debt problem to the masses. This is more or less being done currently too.

However, there should also be an effort to tackle this problem of excessive credit card debt at an even deeper level. This means trying to devise a mechanism to nip the problem (of excessive credit card debt) in the bud. This mechanism should actually be a part of the overall system. A lot of thought needs to go into devising such a mechanism. Case studies should be taken up, statistics gathered and a proper forum formed (with representatives from the credit card holders and from the credit card suppliers).

As of now, the credit card suppliers just seem to be engaged in coming out with new products and getting customers enrolled to those products. There is little attention paid towards addressing the problem of excessive credit card debt in the real sense. Something like attending mandatory seminars on the root causes of excessive credit card debt could be made part of the credit card application process. Another way of dealing with the problem of excessive credit card debt could be: developing a system for calculation of applicable credit card limit at the individual level i.e. no standard/product-based credit limits.

Then there could be mechanisms for proactively warning the users about excessive credit card debt (based on their credit card usage) or even imposition of early restrictions on noticing the first signs that lead to excessive credit card debt At the individual’s level, the treatment of the problem of excessive credit card debt would include following of best practices (on credit card usage and avoidance of excessive credit card debt) by the individuals themselves. A checklist or a set of questions could be provided to individuals for recognising the first signs of excessive credit card debt.

So, the problem of excessive credit card debt can surely be dealt with by putting together some serious thinking at a broader level together with discipline at the individual’s level.

Find out how to avoid credit purgatory with this simple step.

By: Dan Farrell

Credit cards have revolutionized the purchasing experience since Diners Club released the first credit card in the year 1950.

The Dinners Club credit card gave consumers limited credit that, at times, even surpassed the personal savings of some participants. It allowed them to buy items they usually could not afford if they were to make a straight cash purchase. It also provided the convenience and safety of not having to carry large amounts of cash.

On average, American households possess 4 credit cards or a total of 13 payment cards if debit cards and store cards are included. There are, actually, 1.3 billion payment cards of assorted types in circulation in the United States.

But, if you think that credit cards have made the lives of modern American consumers easier, you may be wrong…

Statistics show that the average credit card debt for each household in the U.S. is $4,800 per month. Also, there were 1.3 million credit card holders declaring bankruptcy in the year 2003. This figure is almost guaranteed to decrease since the change in bankruptcy law. A filer is required to pay back a portion of their debt if they are financially able. There are many other changes, mostly for the benefit of the credit card industry and you can find more information at: http://credit.about.com/cs/legal/a/040601.htm

And if you still consider yourself unaffected by credit card debt, then consider this: upon retirement, most Americans can only expect to receive about 37% percent of their annual retirement income because of prior debt payment. This will leave many individuals depending on the government, family and charity for economic survival.

These are some scary facts. So before you find yourself in a position of economic uncertainty, it might be wise to evaluate your spending and current credit card debt.

If your credit card debt exceeds what seems to be a reasonable level, you may want to consider credit card debt consolidation.

So what is credit card debt consolidation?

In a nutshell, credit card debt consolidation is taking all your credit card payments and consolidating them into one monthly payment. This way, you don’t have to worry about managing the payments individually. Aside from this advantage, it may also provide you with the following additional benefits:

- Reduce interest payments – Waive late and overtime fees – Reduced monthly payments – Debt relief in a shorter time – Credit improvement – Save more money in the long run

There are actually two major types of credit card debt consolidation…

You may want to consider a Credit Card Counseling firm. They assist consumers by consolidating all their monthly payments into one single payment and then dispersing this to the creditors on behalf of the consumers.

The other type is through a home equity loan or other secured loan. This is done by exchanging an unsecured debt (such as credit card debt) for a secured debt (a debt backed by specific assets such as real estate).

Now, credit card debt consolidation isn’t a magic balm that will drive all your credit card debt malaise away. But, it will make paying all your debt easier and might save you money in the long run. Definitely an alternative worth considering…

By: Mario Churchill

Searching for credit card deals can really work to your advantage if you are looking for a new credit card. If you search for credit card deals, you may stumble upon a good credit card deal that offers a lot of benefits to the credit card user.

It is always important to remember that when you apply for a credit card, you shouldn’t just apply to any credit card companies. You should always remember that your credit score should be considered in order for you to have a good credit rating in the future. You may not know it but applying for a new credit card should be considered carefully.

When searching for a credit card, you should look for these credit card deals in order to get that benefit you’ve always wanted:

-New Cardholder Incentives

A new cardholder incentive will work to your benefit well. Some credit card companies that offer this kind of deal will allow you to make purchases without interest at an extended period of time. With this benefit, you can make purchases without worrying about the interest rate. Some credit card companies offer this kind of benefit for up to 60 days while some offer this benefit for up to six months or even longer. With this kind of benefit, you, as a cardholder, can save a lot of money on interest while quickly paying the purchase off.

-Rewards

Another great deal you should look for is the rewards program that some credit card companies give to their credit card holders. Rewards program vary from company to company but pretty much works the same way. This kind of deal works when a cardholder uses their credit card frequently. The more a credit card holder uses their card, the more points they accumulate. The points can be converted into cash back, flight points, and other prizes. If you use your credit card frequently, this kind of deal is for you.

-Interest Rates

This is what most people look at first when they apply for a credit card. A good credit card deal should include a low interest rate. Most credit cards have 22% interest rates. So, if you can get a credit card deal with an interest rate lower than 22% then you are on your way on getting a good credit card deal.

-Annual Fees

Annual fees are also something you should look for when you are looking for a good credit card deal. High annual fees are definitely not worth your time. If you can get a credit card with a low annual fee along with other great deals mentioned, you should go for it. Low annual fees should be specially considered if you keep your credit cards for emergency purposes only. You don’t want to pay for that extra fee if you don’t frequently use your credit card.

Finding a credit card with good deals isn’t always easy. This is why you should try hard looking for one that has at least two of the deals mentioned above. Try to consider where you use your credit card and determine which credit card deals are best suited for you.

By doing this, you can protect your credit rating and at the same time, save lots of money on charges that you don’t have any use from. Get a credit card with great deals.

It comes as no surprise how all these credit cards have miraculously found their ways into our lives (and our wallet). They have slowly but surely turned into becoming a necessity (rather than luxury). You can find the necessary processing machines in almost all the shops you visit today. With the advent of internet, online card processing has become very popular too. ‘Credit card processing’ as such is a really interesting topic. This article will try to put into perspective the people, systems and the equipment that go into card processing.

First, let’s take a look at the equipments used for credit card processing. So, there are processing software’s for online the card processing, there are the processing machines (i.e. the reading machines at shops), there are data verification/validation devices/software’s that verify the security information on the cards, there are communication devices/systems that enable safe transfer of your credit card information from one point to another, and then there are other processing equipments like the processing equipment that is used for the preparation of the actual plastic (credit card).

Then there are various service providers that provide services related to the card processing. There are suppliers for card processing equipment and suppliers for online credit card processing services. Then there are postal and courier service that help deliver card bills in time. There are merchants/petrol-bunks etc which provide facility of payment collection boxes at their premises (another important aspect of card processing).

Besides that there are complete systems for processing credit card applications, there are systems for credit bill processing/generation, there are people at call centres who help in addressing the queries from credit card holders and, very importantly, there are people (sales representatives) who help you in filling the credit card application forms.

Another important entity with regards to ‘credit card processing’ process is the credit rating bureaus. Bureaus maintain a database of credit ratings for individuals and businesses. This rating is based on the data received from various credit providers over a period of time. This rating is the most important part of credit card application processing and a bad rating could possibly lead to rejection of the application altogether.

Thus, card processing involves a wholly coordinated effort from a lot of professionals and service providers. In that sense, we can also say that credit card processing is pretty much an industry in itself that are literally generated thousands of jobs for those seeking employment.

Nowadays, credit cards offer many features designed to appeal to everyone — from cash back and rebate offers to point systems and frequent flyer miles. Many of these offers work to your advantage only if you make large and frequent purchase. On the same hand, you get more in return if you can pay off the balance each month. Otherwise, the annual fees and high interest rates typically found on these types of cards will make the rewards seem worthless. But what about the credit card holders who always carry a balance or can’t seem to get out from under the tight grip of debt? Balance transfer credit cards might be a temporary solution to your problem.

Are You Drowning In Debt?

Many Americans have several credit cards and are in debt up to their eyeballs. It is easy to fall prey to the trap set by creditors. Credit card companies and banks make it tempting to spend beyond your means, overextending yourself to the point of no return. Gaining control of your debt can be difficult. And, if you can only afford minimum payments on your accounts that barely puts a dent in the total amount you owe. It can take years (or decades) to get that card paid off. Plus, you’ll end losing hundreds and thousands of extra money in finance charges.

But don’t fret! Balance transfers can pull you out from under and have you back on track or debt free.

Grab Hold Of The Lifesaver

If you’re finances are a little out of control but you’ve managed to maintain good credit then you’re in luck. Grab a hold of the floatation device and see the light again. You don’t have to let revolving credit rule you. Turn the tables and take control of it – benefit from the use of a credit card balance transfer.

Credit card balance transfer terms can vary greatly so it’s in your best interest to shop around for the best deal. Many balance transfer cards offer 0% APR on all balance transfers. Some have higher introductory rates from 2% to 9% APR or more.

Balance transfer interest rates usually apply for a limited time. This could be 3 months, 6 months, 9 months or 12 months. Some cards (rare cards) even offer transfer rates for an unlimited number of months. Once the time period has ended, the normal interest rate is applied. This can be anywhere from approximately 9% APR to as high as 30% APR.

Getting Your Head Above Water

Some may compare the use of balance transfers to “robbing Peter to pay Paul.” In other words, you shift your money around from one place to another trying to avoid the consequences of poor money management. It may seem like you are handling your situation, when in reality you are not. However, when used carefully, a credit card balance transfer from high interest cards to balance transfer credit cards can give you more breathing room and time to get caught up.

Balance transfer credit cards offer many options, particular for consumers who always carry a balance on their credit or who may be in over the heads with credit card debt. These cards can help you use a credit card balance transfer to get out from under hold of plastic and back in control of your finances. If you’re stuck with high interest rates and realize how much money you are losing than balance transfer credit cards are for you. Just be sure not to let the dangerous snare of the plastic monster get a hold of you again.

Since August 1, all the online buyers who love to spend through credit cards now have to provide an additional PIN number as an additional security before making any purchase or forget about online shopping.

By: pirumandal
In a recent development against rising credit card defaults, Indian government has introduced a revolutionary step. With its new PIN policy, the bankers and other institutions are now gearing up for additional security to the users, which will check the fraudulent activities.

Since August 1, all the online buyers who love to spend through credit cards now have to provide an additional PIN number as an additional security before making any purchase. Hence, you have to remember the Personal Identification Number (PIN)/password for your credit or debit cards, otherwise forget about using them.

The new PIN or password can be called as a second level of security before completion of the transaction so that even if somebody notes your card number, he cannot misuse it for online shopping. When a person enters your credit card number on the merchant’s website, it will redirect you to the bank’s website for the completion of transaction, where you need to type in the PIN.

Earlier this year, the Reserve Bank of India had announced an additional authentication pass-code verified by Visa or MSC (MasterCard Secure Code) mandatory for all the credit card holders. This PIN number is in addition to the other information already there on the card like name, card number, expiry date and CVV (card verification value) number.

The recent effort is derived from the government with EMV technology standard that underpins chip and PIN transactions in UK credit and debit cards. EMV technology stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa, the three payment groups that originally developed the standard.

PIN Policy: Overload to bankers

To complete the requests for additional authentication, banks were loaded with thousands of requests and few allowed users to create passwords on their websites. Some institutions sent fresh user IDs and passwords to customers via post.

Some private banks like Citibank allowed its customers to use net banking password as their password for e-commerce transactions. Further, ICICI Bank has provided 6-digit PIN with a personal assurance message (PAM), which is a type of message and only known to the customers.

The largest public sector bank, State Bank of India said that it has already accommodated the required change, as its entire debit cards are PIN based, so they may not require another layer of security. Only, the customers have to apply for PIN for credit cards.

Benefits of new PIN Policy

1. Additional security.

2. Less number of frauds or default rate.

3. Secure transactions.

4. Increase in users’ confidence in the plastic money.

5. With new PIN ID cards, holders could access new government and private sector services online using the PIN to verify their identity.

PIN for ID cards: Not such a sharp idea

1. It cost the exchequer about $5bn project to provide additional chip and PIN capabilities to the present ID cards.

2. Also, there are doubts over the practical benefits of the PIN number.

3. Analysts predict that the system was also vulnerable, PIN numbers being spied on in public and to criminals hacking terminals to steal card transaction and PIN details. It means that PIN functionality could open up new avenues for identity fraudsters.

By: Christos Margetis

If you’re like most people, you have plenty of credit cards, and you have stacks of offers for more. There’s no need to carry any money with you ever again: you can just take one credit card with you to the shop and pay the exact amount just by handing it over.

A study by The UK Post Office found that a quarter of credit card holders said they had started the New Year more dependent on real credit than ever before with 41 per cent saying that they would be relying on their credit cards to pay for groceries and other daily expenses.

The weight of the calculations, administration and marketing needed to support the industry is immense the average Briton or American gets at least one credit card offer in the mail every day. Some cards can be much more expensive than others. Do not ever forget that after just five years at 15%, you’d owe double what you borrowed.

Once you’ve got a credit card, you’ll find that you can do more with it than just pay for things with the card. If you had bad credit, you couldn’t get a credit card at all. Whatever you do, though, don’t spend a whole day applying for every credit card you can find, just to see if anyone will take you.

In the West, though, the art of saving seems to be a lost one almost no-one is saving enough for their retirement and banks are having to offer ever-higher interest rates to get people to put money anywhere near a savings account. Many people have over-stressed themselves over the Christmas period and have little choice but to use their credit card in the new year. “In the UK only an estimated 6.9 million household bills were being either unpaid or paid late over the last six month period” is mentioned by a separate study from MoneyExpert(DOT)com.

If you’re a good customer, you’d be surprised how easy it is to get a better rate.

Companies giving out small loans are far more likely to rely completely on this rating than to bother checking your income, and a worse rating will mean that you are offered a higher interest rate. The problem is simply a matter of people leaving their balances on credit cards for too long, not realising just how high the interest really is. Your balance from the end of each day in the billing cycle is added up, and then divided by how many days there were, and interest is charged on this amount.

Going over your credit limit will result in your card no longer being accepted, and you being charged an over-limit fee. Your limit is just that: a limit, not a minimum! Whatever you do, don’t get a card and immediately spend your whole limit.

When you have enough money to pay off your debt, there’s absolutely no reason to keep it. Debt is for people who don’t have the money, and need to borrow it. Debt costs money, and savings make money you want as much of your finances as possible to be savings, not debts. If your savings account and credit card are with the same bank, then you’re effectively paying for the privilege of borrowing your own money from them. Why would you do that? Try always to negotiate your credit card debts. After all, the worst they can do is say no. To close the account, you’ll have to negotiate something called a ‘payment plan’. In all the technical discussion you hear about credit card debt, the best ways to manage it and pay it off and all the rest, one thing goes largely ignored.

You will be surprised at how lenient credit card companies usually are if you phone and apologise after all, the sensible ones want to keep you paying interest to them for a long time to come, so it’s not really in their interest to punish you. If you’re willing to call them up and wait in their queue for a while, the chances are you can get them to accept a credit card payment just by you reading the number. Know Your Local Laws.

People with lots of debts don’t want to talk about it, even with their family, for fear of upsetting people or looking like a failure. You’ll be less stressed about your debts, and your credit report will show that you were able to pay everything back getting you a much better interest rate if you ever need to go into debt again. It is very important, though, that you do talk about your problems, as keeping it all inside yourself will make you much, much more stressed.

The next time your issuer check your credit rating (they usually do it quarterly), they’ll spot it and want to raise your rate. In some countries, you may find that you can sign up to get credit reports regularly for a small fee, or even for free! Make sure to check your local laws.

Good cards can have a grace period of up to two months bad ones might not have one at all. Almost no cards have a grace period on cash advances or credit card cheques, however.

The most dangerous thing about debt consolidation loans is that the ones with lower payments generally last a very long time you could be paying it off for twenty years, or even longer. Chances are that any interest rate you’re offered on a debt consolidation loan will be significantly lower than the interest rates you’re currently paying on credit cards. If you have lots of cards at a high rate and you’ve had no luck transferring the balances, then debt consolidation could be a very good idea.

In some countries, you might not have a legal leg to stand on your card issuer can do what they like to you. When it comes to Credit Card Issuers, getting it in writing also means that you can hold them to what they say later on. Credit card lenders realised, though, that they could set the minimum payments lower, and collect a smaller amount of money each month for a much longer period of time. There are some credit card lenders out there who are trying to scam you.

Settling your debts takes a lot of time, and many people find it intimidating. Firstly, look for a card with a high minimum payment this is a good way to discipline yourself into paying off the debt faster.

Anyway, credit card lenders are devious, and there are plenty of things there designed to catch you out here’s what you should be on your guard against. There are many government bodies, legitimate financial companies and charities that give good advice, but the ones who do a lot of advertising tend to be owned or partnered with people you don’t want to know.

They are also a very useful way of proving to credit rating agencies that you can handle debt, and this will be taken into consideration when you apply for car loans or a mortgage.

Don’t be fooled by any offers that give you a good rate for a limited time you’re going to have this loan for quite a while. Your minimum payment is the absolute minimum that you must pay off each month to avoid defaulting on the debt. If you look at what your payments would be and think ‘oh, how cheap!’, the chances are you’d be signing up to them for a long time to come.

Any offer that says it’s for a limited time only is one you should ignore, as there’s no reason to do it other than as a sales tactic. Any bill you don’t pay whether it’s for another card or for your electricity gets put on your credit record. Make sure you keep track: make a mark on the calendar. It’s money you should have been spending instead of making purchases with a credit card.

By: Adam Singleton

UK credit card holders paid a staggering £240 million in ‘transfer fees’ switching their balances to interest-free deals last year, prompting the threat of an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading. Used as a debt management tool by consumers colloquially known as ‘rate tarts’, switching credit card balances now attracts transfer fees of up to 3% of the transferred amount.

Many customers were unaware of the transfer charge until it appeared upon their statement, and that has led to complaints. There are up to 150 different UK credit cards currently offering zero-interest balance transfers, but almost all charge transfer fees ranging up to 3%. That means that someone transferring a balance of £10,000 would have to pay a fee of £300. A spokesman for the British Bankers Association defended the actions of the credit card companies by claiming that the fees are levied to cover the transfer of direct debits and checking credit history. However, if that is the case it is unclear why the transfer fees are percentage related when the actual administration costs must surely be the same for each customer. That effectively means that people who transfer higher balances are either subsidising those who transfer less, or providing more income to the credit card companies.

Ironically, the balance transfer fees were introduced by the credit card companies following an OFT crackdown on late penalty fees, forcing them to look for an alternative income. Research carried out by Moneyexpert.com found that 12 million people had switched credit cards last year incurring an average fee of £19.99.

The balance transfer fee is now an important factor when evaluating which credit card deals are best when it comes to zero-interest switching. Like everything it pays to shop around. If transferring a balance of £5,000, for example, the difference in fees paid between a 1% and 3% charge would amount to £100; quite a saving. Better still would be a 0% charge saving £150, but that 0% deal tends to be restricted to existing customers only at a limited number of banks and building societies, such as Norwich and Peterborough and the Britannia building societies.

If you are considering switching to a zero-balance deal it pays to compare credit cards and the deals the card issuers are offering. Don’t simply be tempted by a zero-interest balance transfer without reading the small print. Check the amount you would have to pay as a balance transfer fee and also the length of the interest-free offer. If you get it right it could be a useful way of managing your debt. Get it wrong and you could be paying hundreds of pounds in fees, as well as being in the position of needing to switch again after a relatively short period.

By: cynthiastewart

Secured credit cards are special type of credit cards which are issued against a collateral. Generally a checking account or some other collateral comes into picture while issuing of a secured credit card. The credit limit of a secured credit card is equal to the value or amount available in the collateral. It is particularly rare to get a credit greater than this amount with a secured credit card.

Secured credit cards option are exercised generally by those with bad credit history and poor credit score to get themselves back on track. Credit card issuing companies, ask for collateral because they find providing credit cards to such people too risky. A good use of secured credit card can give the credit card issuer enough confidence to issue an unsecured credit card in your name.

A good thing to have with secured credit cards is that they should report your spending habits to the three major credit reporting agencies. Strange but true, not all secured credit card holders do that. Unless this feature is present in a secured credit card, it will be of little use for those trying to use it for rebuilding their credit history.

Though secured credit cards are linked with a collateral, they still have some fees and terms associated with them. Before going for a secured credit card, a person must check the various APR’s associated with the credit card. If the secured credit card charges an annual fee, the applicant should try to get one with the lowest amount of interest rates and annual fees. The billing period and grace period allowed for repayments should also be considered. Already suffering with a bad credit situation, the last thing to do with a secured credit card is to take a cash advance with it, simply because the cash advance attracts high interest rates and a cash advance fees.

Care should be taken that the secured credit card is actually used in a way that rebuilds credit history. Sticking to repayment schedule like a religion, and not over indulging with the credit card will help a lot in getting the most out of your secured credit card.
